AI Empowerment Professional Development: Sample Program
This program includes a general session followed by two hands-on workshops. It is designed for first-time or early-stage AI users and focuses on building confidence, practical skills, and a clear understanding of how chatbots, LLMs, and other AI tools can support work and daily life, with an emphasis on responsible use.
General Session (30 minutes)
AI in Plain English: What It Means for Work, Learning, and the Future
A clear, non-technical introduction to artificial intelligence. Participants learn what AI is, what it is not, and why it matters — without hype or fear. Suitable for all-staff or general audiences.
Workshop 1 (2 hours)
Getting Started with AI: Ethics, Safety, and Everyday Use
This session introduces how chatbots, LLMs, and other AI tools generate responses, where they are reliable, and where they are not. It covers core topics including bias, accuracy, privacy, and appropriate professional use, along with practical applications such as drafting, brainstorming, summarizing, and planning. Participants leave with clear guidelines for responsible use and the confidence to begin using AI tools effectively.
Workshop 2 (2 hours)
Using AI to Support Your Work, Career, and Daily Life
This session focuses on applying AI as a productivity and thinking tool. Participants learn how to improve written communication, support career development, and enhance planning and organization. It also introduces simple methods for evaluating and verifying AI-generated outputs. Participants leave with practical use cases, reusable workflows, and the confidence to adapt as tools continue to evolve.
